Unique Print - Only Copy in the Archive!
One half of the darkroom montage that made up ‘Kate Cycling Down The Boardwalk’. Not the exact shot of Kate on her bike but from the same shoot The original montage would of course have been made with a negative in the darkroom but on a whim or perhaps with the intention of using this solo cycle shot in the book, Sam made one print with Kate’s head tilted up and this is it. I have not found any other examples or any variants at any scale in the archive.

Garner is a specialist in photography and formerly Director of Photography at Christies in London.Print Specs: This is a beautiful large prints 16” x 20” (roughly 40.0cm x 50cm). A Vintage silver gelatin print, produced by Sam in-house in 1963. The image in this post of the print scan has a border added purely to assist with display proportions.
Condition: The print is in excellent condition.
FRAMED!: This print is sold with a handmade Ash frame built to Sam’s specifications. The frame is stained and waxed and glazed with UV resistant acrylic.
Rarity: As rare as it gets! There is only one known copy of this print.
Unique Offer: Every buyer of our vintage silver gelatin prints receives a contemporary copy of the same print entirely for free with a view to making ownership more flexible. These prints which we normally sell for $1,350 occasionally come onto the secondary market for up to double or more that price. They are meticulously retouched and printed in-house on museum grade Hahnemühle Photo Rag Baryta paper. The scale is the same as our estate standard size inkjet prints which are 24 inches (61.0cm) on the long axis.
Provenance: All prints sold by the estate including vintage and posthumous works are accompanied by detailed certificates of provenance which we call PIN (Print Identification Number) Certificates. The prints and the certificates are connected by a unique five figure hand written number on the reverse which is photographed and reproduced on the certificates. To the best of our knowledge this system is unmmatched in the industry.
Shipping and Tariffs: All prints in the archive ship for free including packing and insurance. Our USA clients are routinely subject to little or no tariffs.
